What a Bummer!

June 17th, 2008

Well, that was a bust! I guess the Mozilla servers couldn’t take the bandwidth. I’m not sure if you tried to download FF3, but I had issues most of the day. I was finally able to get my copy around 5pm PST.

Sorry Mozilla — better luck next time. Make sure that you can handle the load, is the moral of the story.

$31,000 per minute

June 6th, 2008

According to CNet, for every minute that Amazon is down globally — it would cost them approximately $31,000 in sales. This is based off their yearly revenue numbers from last year.

That being said, Amazon has been down in the US since 10:30 am PST (about 1 hour and 12 minutes at the time of this posting). Assuming that this was a global outage, this would cost Amazon about $2.2MM already.

Considering it’s only the US, let’s just cut that number in half.. even so.

Dolphins Playing with Bubble Rings

May 28th, 2008

A co-worker shared this with me and I had to post it on The Diatribe because it’s just so freaking cool. It starts out pretty simple, but watch until about half-way in when the dolphins start re-sizing the rings and spinning them. Outrageous!

Planetary Exploration

May 23rd, 2008

There are a lot of neat ways to look at photos online these days, but I just found a new one called “Tag Galaxy” which will explore Flickr’s photo database using a planetary theme based on the keyword or tag that you want to see.

To give it a try, visit and enter any keyword. If you can’t think of something to search for, try Rainbow, that one’s pretty cool.

Play and Explore in a galaxy of photos!

New best of the web

May 5th, 2008

Best of the web hasn’t been around for a while.. so, I came up with a new option courtesy of >a href=”http://reader.google.com”>Google Reader. Any items that are marked as shared will appear in the headlines to the right.

The link in the top nav now points somewhere good now, too — to my Shared Google Reader Page. This should help keep these items new and fresh… How fun!

Improv Everywhere

March 11th, 2008

You may have seen these guys before — they’re a troupe known as that does improvisational randomness at fun public places. Some of their previous mischievous projects included: Installing a bathroom attendant in the Times Square McDonalds, invading Best Buy with hundreds of volunteers dressed in blue polo shirts and khakis (standard Best Buy Garb) to confuse the unsuspecting shoppers, among others.

I found this latest assignment particularly entertaining and wanted to share.. Enjoy the show.

IE 8?

March 5th, 2008

I just found out there’s a new beta version of Internet Explorer 8…. Do people even use Internet Explorer 7? Do people even know that IE 7 exists? I doubt it.

Just and be done with it.
