Being in The Bean

August 15th, 2010

First off, let me say mazel tov to my sister Bailey and her husband Max on their wedding this past weekend. It was great to share this event with them, but also get to see friends and family that I’ve not seen in years.

Since last Monday, I’ve been in Boston for the festivities and work, but as much as it’s fun to be here I’m very glad to have gotten to New York this afternoon. For me, the city of Boston is an amusement park except most of the people that are there with you aren’t very pleasant. I love the city: Running along the esplanade, Copley Square, the MBTA, Somerville/Cambridge, and even the taxi drivers (and the town taxi rule). I am not, however, such a fan of the people.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my family and friends that live there. It’s a good portion of the remaining people in the city that I don’t really like. Take for example yesterday afternoon while I was running down the stairs at Park Street station from upstairs at the Green Line downstairs to the Red Line. People were disembarking the train downstairs and I knew that it was likely my train. I politely (and clearly) said excuse me to two girls walking side-by-side down the steps and hurried by. The girls, who looked to be in their early twenties, replied “You are excused!”

Is it wrong to rush by someone to grab a train, if you say ‘Excuse me?’ _I_ don’t think so, but maybe I’m the one in the wrong. Perhaps this can only be explained by the other strange phenomenon that Cool Jesus had witnessed at the Park Street stop. Personally, I feel it’s the city as a whole and I will attest that even some of my other Bostonian friends have been starting to experience it as well.

So here I am in NYC with 4 days left to see a Thunderstorm, the weather is looking very promising. Especially with highs in the upper 90′s tomorrow. Yikes! Welcome to New York City in August.

And the photos to prove it!

July 20th, 2008

It’s amazing to think that two weeks have passed since the wedding — but it’s true. And to celebrate this two week anniversary, I received a call from our photographer informing us that our photos are ready to be viewed.

Interested in checking them out? Visit the Morin Studio Web Site and choose our wedding. The password is the date of the wedding in mm/dd/yy format. Need more help? Leave a comment and I’ll be sure to help ya out!

Fortunately, I’ve included the best photo of all right here for the world to enjoy!

A sigh of relief for the groom & his groomsmen.

What a Wedding

July 14th, 2008

I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone that was able to make it up to Amherst last weekend for Miss Possible’s and my wedding. It was awesome to see everyone and I really hope that everyone had a great time between the various activities at the picnic on Friday and the wedding on Saturday. I’ve managed to pick up not only a new wife, but also a new hobby courtesy of my Father in Law (Golf) and from all of the stress and strain from the weekend’s adventures I managed to come down with a case of tendinitis in my right elbow as a result of the Softball + Horseshoes + Golf, etc.

I felt like I was away from work for so long — but the entire two weeks seemed to fly by so fast. MP and I had a great time on the cape and a great end of the week with friends and family. As I get photos, I’ll post them (or at least links to the albums) with the permission of the photo takers. So, if you have pics you want to have shared — send them my way and I’ll put together a post with all of them combined.

Thanks for sharing in our special weekend!

Ringing It

May 6th, 2008

I never realized how hard it is to pick out a wedding ring. All design-issues aside, Miss Possible’s engagement ring was fairly easy — as she was the one that had to struggle with the style decisions for a ring that she’ll wear forever.

I never really had to do that.. until this weekend. It was frustrating — looking at all the styles that looked practically identical. I finally found something nice and unique — and of course unique usually means more expensive than originally planned. Still, I went to pick it up today — and we’re in business.

One less thing on the list — and only a few weeks left to go now! Wowzahs.

Registration

December 2nd, 2007

Man.. doing a wedding registry is hard work. We managed to brave the mall traffic today to register at what was originally supposed to be “a few places.” After 5 hours, we came close to finishing off our registry at Macy’s. We still have a lot of cleanup to do and adjusting of what was recorded (changing colors, adding missing set pieces, etc.) But, man it’s tiring.

I have to admit, though, that doing your registry at Macy’s is completely worth it. As registrants, we get 10% back on all of our purchases between now and our wedding date. We also get 10% back on anything purchased off our registry (so, go nuts my friends!). There was even deals that said “if you spend $x on y brand, you get a free gift.” Very crazy.

So, it was a blast running around the store — picking out our formal & casual dinner plates, flatware, cooking utensils, etc. Anything you want — scanned. Done and done.

The one thing, though, is that afterwards Miss Possible and I agreed that we felt like we shopped like mad and had nothing to show for it. We were feeling as though we were excited to come home and look at all our goodies.. Well, unfortunately, that will have to wait. July is just around the corner.

Registry Poll

November 22nd, 2007

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier.. So, let me poll you — dear Diatribe Readers.

If you were to get married in the next year, would you do your wedding registries on the Friday after Thanksgiving? Yes / No.

Comments Encouraged ;)
